Everyday Counselling Skills
Description
This is a personal & professional development training course that aims to empower participants to apply the most effective, evidence-based support solutions for both them and the person or people they are supporting. This course will prepare participants to support someone with empathy and engage them in positive thinking. This training will introduce participants to effective listening skills, and using a strengths approach to working with people. Participants will find out how to meet the needs of a person they are supporting whilst looking after their own wellbeing.
This training will cover:
Identifying and implementing the essential aspects of communication
Applying informal counselling strategies to help a person manage change in their lives
Establishing the purpose of ‘the conversation’ to move the person toward future possibilities
Introduction to the Strengths approach
Finding out when, where and how to access other supports.
Creating wellness habits to help you establish boundaries that make you more effective in supporting others
