Everyday Magic: Creative Writing Workshop
Event description
Open to everyone from the creative-writing-curious to the experienced professional (ages 13+), Worlds 4 All is excited to offer our first public writing workshop!
Over the course of an hour, we will offer a series of creative prompts and activities that explore the "magic" hidden in our every day lives, culminating in the option to design a fantasy magic item inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game. This workshop will be facilitated by our founder, Heather, drawing on her love of personal journaling, poetry, TTRPG world-building, and her decades plus years of experience as an English Language Arts teacher. She hopes to co-create a comfortable space where all participants feel safe enough to fully explore their creative potential. Simply bring yourself and a willingness to learn: a favorite pen and notebook are welcome, but basic writing supplies will also be provided.
This workshop will take place upstairs at the Lawrence community hub, El Taller & Cafe Azteca, where delicious food and drink is available for purchase. Street parking is available on both Essex St and Common St (free after 6:00 p.m.), as well as many other surrounding streets, so be sure to leave a few extra minutes to secure a parking spot.
Accessibility note: there is no elevator to the upstairs space at El Taller, so if you require physical accessibility accommodations, please just email worlds4all@gmail.com and we will help make appropriate arrangements.
