    Event description

We invite all past EWBQ volunteers and partners to join us at our first networking event on Thursday, 30 May from 5.30-7.00pm, so we can learn about any interesting projects you have worked on in the past, or to share your ideas for possible challenges that we can focus our efforts on.

Over the past couple of months a group of people ranging in age from their early 20s to over 60 and with roots in many different countries have united under the banner of Engineers Without Borders to re-establish the EWB Queensland Corporate Chapter.

We did it because we believe in the positive, collaborative and measurable community impact that is at the heart of everything EWB does.

We believe that we need a broad range of partnerships, because together we are stronger.

We are pleased to announce that Gavin Blakey OAM will join us to share some of his experiences with the EWB Challenge Series and how it draws upon real-world challenges experienced by our Challenge community partners in Queensland.

Gavin is an experienced Board Chair and Non-Executive Director (NED) recognised with the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for international contributions to for-purpose organisations, with a driving passion for making a positive difference for people and their communities.

As project director for Engineers Without Borders Australia, Gavin managed a water supply project with partners in Timor Leste which resulted in 64,000 people in the capital Dili now enjoying healthier and more productive lives through construction of a more reliable and resilient water supply system.

We look forward to hearing more about Gavin's experiences and learning about possible opportunities to get involved.
