    Event description

    The 2023 Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria (RDAV) State Championships will be held on Saturday, 2 December 2023 at the Werribee Park Equestrian Centre (WPEC). RDAV welcomes our event partners Equestrian Victoria, the Joan Tonge Foundation, Special Olympics Victoria and the Racing Victoria Off the Track program to bring you this event.

    On the day before International Day of People with Disability, the event will feature Dressage, English Equitation, Show Jumping and Working Trails and will also be a Special Olympics qualifying event for their 2024 State Games. 

    Para Dressage and Virtus tests are also offered, upon request.

    Note that there is a limit of four classes/tests per participant.

    Rules and Useful Information
    1. Event is run according to RDAV rules and regulations.
    2. Entries open Wednesday, 3 October 2023.
    3. Entries close Friday, 17 November 2023.
    4. Entries are limited to a maximum of four (4) classes/tests per participant.
    5. Dress code: Riders may wear RDA shirt or Competition attire.
    6. Horses to be well groomed and plaited.
    7. All riders must wear approved helmets and footwear whilst mounted.
    8. The decision of the ground jury is final, and no secondary protests will be entered into.
    9. The organizing committee accepts no liability for accidents, injury, illness or loss to any person, horse or property.
    10. Riders must enter at their assessed level.
    11. Refund Policy: Entry fees will not be refunded after the close of entries. Scratching prior to the close of entries will incur a $20 administration fee. No refunds/scratching or substituting will be allowed after entries close.
    12. Insurance and membership: Competitors MUST be an RDAA registered rider, or a current Special Olympics member (proof required).
    13. Classes may be combined depending on entry numbers.
    14. All persons entering the event must sign in to RDAV on arrival (Indoor Arena 2).

    Confirmation of entry and number allocation will be sent by Friday, 24 November 2023.

    GENERAL INFORMATION
    Walk Assisted:
    for riders who are beginning to develop riding skills but still require assistance, either with leaders, side walkers or assistants in the arena with them.
    Walk Independent:
    for riders who can safely ride at a walk with spotters outside of the arena who are available to assist if required.
    Trot Assisted:
    for riders who are beginning to trot but still require assistance, either with leaders, side walkers or assistants in the arena with them.
    Trot Independent:
    for riders who can safely ride at a trot with spotters outside the arena who are available to assist if required.
    Canter Novice:
    for riders who can safely ride at the canter.

    On arrival, please register with RDAV officials who will be located in the concierge area of Indoor Arena 2.
    Stables

    to accommodate wheelchairs is situated behind Indoor Arena 2
    Moveable mounting blocks
    also situated in both Arenas.

    Located outside Indoor Arena 2.
    Toilets
    are located in the camping area behind the stables and in the office buildings behind the Outdoor Dressage Arena no.1
    Food/coffee vans
    will be operating from 8am in the main courtyard.
