Exclusive Event on Trust Changes
Description
The Government has now introduced legislation into Parliament to implement significant changes to the taxation of discretionary trusts. The Bill has been referred to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee with its report due on 13 November 2026.
If enacted, the new rules will introduce a 30% minimum tax on the net income of discretionary trusts from 1 July 2028, representing a substantial change to the way many family, investment and business structures are taxed.
Join us for a client briefing, explaining the proposed changes, what they may mean for existing trust structures and the options that should be considered well ahead of commencement.
During the session we will discuss:
How the proposed 30% minimum tax will operate
Which trusts and types of income are affected, and the key exclusions
The impact on distributions to individuals and corporate beneficiaries
The alternative election available to eligible existing discretionary trusts to avoid the minimum tax
The proposed restructuring and rollover opportunities
Practical examples comparing the available options
What you should be doing between now and 1 July 2028
Join us for an evening of networking, refreshments and a informational session on the Trust Changes.
Please RSVP by Friday, 20 November 2026, as places are limited.
