    Event description

You are cordially invited to an exclusive screening of excerpts from the highly anticipated documentary film 1807 Franklinton Log Post Office by filmmaker David Maurice Bailey. This special event offers a unique opportunity to preview portions of the film, currently in production and set for release at a later date.

The historic 1807 Franklinton Log Post Office, also known as the David Deardurff House, stands as a testament to Columbus's rich heritage. Serving as both the residence of the Deardurff family and the first post office in Franklinton, this iconic building holds a special place in the city's history.

Join us as we witness the meticulous restoration of this architectural gem, guided by the late esteemed local historian Walter Reiner. Through Bailey's lens, the documentary not only showcases the beauty of the home but also explores its profound historical significance, preserving a vital piece of Columbus's past for generations to come.

Refreshments will be provided, and attendees will have the opportunity to receive a free Franklinton tote bag while supplies last.

Weather permitting, a group will gather in front of the Post Office located at 72 S. Gift St. at 6:00 pm for a brief introduction to the building. Following the introduction, attendees will walk two blocks east to the Firefighters Union for the screening of the documentary.

Don't miss this special opportunity to be among the first to experience the captivating story of the 1807 Franklinton Log Post Office restoration. Join us for an evening of history, heritage, and celebration!

This event is free, but registration is required.

We look forward to seeing you there!
