Djarlgarra Yarning ‘Canning River Stories’ (presented by Nearer to Nature)

The Nyoongar people’s strong connection with the wetlands and rivers that flow across the Swan Coastal Plain forms the basis for much of their culture, spirituality, and identity. Hear from an experienced Nyoongar educator who demonstrates first-hand how the resources provided by the land and river were traditionally used and how the seasons dictated their availability and sustainable use. Students participate in a range of hands-on activities.
A bird's eye view - self guided (with HEWA committee members & volunteers)

On this self-guided walk using binoculars and surveying techniques, students discover the waterbirds that live in and visit our stunning regional parks. Class set of binoculars and identification sheets is provided by Nearer to Nature
After the walk we will visit the Canning River Eco Education Centre (CREEC)’s gallery and library
