My unStill Life | Cam Michael

My unStill Life explores the value of the familiar and the interaction of work and home life for an artist. Using a range of media including glass (cast, fused, sandblasted and flameworked), textiles, wood and found objects- Cam Michael creates a series of small rooms that each represent a part of the home or studio. Many of the sculpted objects represent everyday things that hold value for Michael and have been recreated from scratch with the distortion of memory. Some of the scenes playfully explore what happens when our familiar is disrupted and how we make sense of that as artists.

The Omega Series | Pamela Irving

The Omega Series by Pamela Irving re-contextualises discarded objects and materials into new forms. Sardine tins, an everyday object with a utilitarian design is the foundation of this series. Once the contents of the tin have been eaten, Irving creates her Omega characters. It’s a play on the essential omega 3 vitamin and the Greek letter Omega, representing the end, the ultimate limit. Her characters reflect both the absurdity of waste and our material culture.

2025 Emerging Contemporaries is Craft + Design Canberra’s prestigious award exhibition celebrating the next generation of designers and makers. Showcasing works by early career artists from leading local institutions, including Canberra Potters Society, Canberra Institute of Technology, and the ANU School of Art + Design, this exhibition highlights the diverse talent shaping the future of craft and design.

2025 Emerging Contemporaries plays a vital role in nurturing early career practitioners, supporting their transition into professional practice.
