The Mill invites you to join us for the opening event for Searching for Utopia.
About the exhibitions
Searching for Utopia is an exploration of creative play, rooted in Afrofuturist principles of the future, imagination, speculative fiction, and liberation through a diasporic lens. Oriana’s African- American, and Italian heritage, set against the backdrop of Kaurna Land, speak to themes of hybridity and fusion through Oriana’s artistic expressions. The work embraces spontaneous method making, utilising foraged objects such as discarded furniture, vintage glassware, beads, synthetic fiber's, and organic matter in order to form a hybrid, affective sanctuary.
