Description

About the Exhibition

Culture, history and science collide at this free exhibition showing in the gallery space at Yitpi Yartapuultiku.

Designed by historian Denise Schumann OAM, the exhibition delves into the complex relationship between Kaurna and First Nations Dreaming stories and the extinction of Australia’s megafauna 50,000 years ago. At the heart of this ancient tale is the discovery of the remains of the extraordinary creature the Diprotodon near Deadman’s Pass at Gawler in 1891.

There is an increasing recognition that fossils, scientific research, and history play a crucial role in unearthing the truth about life on Earth and its preservation. All welcome.
