On Show 2023 - Transition
Canberra Art Workshop
The Canberra Art Workshop On Show 2023 - Transition exhibition of members' work provides an opportunity to represent the transitions we go through as artists, including the transitions occurring and affecting us in the world today. As we grow and change as artists, new things challenge us and capture our imagination. The world around us has changed so much since 2019 (not all of it for the better). There is no better medium than art to demonstrate these changes.
Gallery 2
Dream City Demolition
Katie Hayne
Dream City Demolition presents a series of new works by Katie Hayne documenting Canberra’s changing urban places through painting and installation. In capturing Canberra’s dynamic landscape, Hayne draws attention to the materiality of places and questions the environmental impact of concrete and urban renewal.
Gallery 3
Drift
Katherine White
Katherine White showcases a series of cyanotypes on paper, exploring the sensation of uncertainty induced by climate change, particularly through first-hand experiences with bushfires.
𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘵 delves into personal anxieties about the future and the precarious state of the world while seeking solace in nature.
Chutespace
Dog Birthday Party
Jess Dabro
Jess Dabro is a Primary Art Teacher with a background in Graphic Design and Illustration. She has always been an animal lover and is particularly besotted with dogs. When her children were younger she would read them a book called ‘Best Dog Party Ever’ by Wendy Graham which has inspired this artwork. One of Jess’s favourite places to visit are dog parks - she loves seeing all the different breeds and quirky personalities. She thought creating a miniature dog party scene would bring a sense of wonder and joy to people of all ages.
Exhibitions run from
12 MAY to 4 JUNE
M16 Artspace operates on the lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. We honour and pay our respects to its traditional custodians. We acknowledge this land ‘always was and always will be’ the country of Australia’s First Nations People. Sovereignty was never ceded.
