Experimental Pigment Workshop
Event description
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to create a natural painting medium using tree sap collected from a tree on the site at Eramboo. The sap is ground and prepared to form a binder, then mixed with finely ground pigments to produce a vibrant, water-soluble paint.
This ancient and sustainable method reconnects us with the origins of art-making. Before synthetic materials, artists made their own tools and paints from what they found in nature. Participants will gain insight into the science and alchemy behind natural binders, explore the sensory process of mixing colour by hand, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the relationship between the earth and art materials.
Suitable for all levels, this workshop invites curiosity, creativity, and a spirit of experimentation. All materials provided.
