Event description

Join Zen teacher Imelda Carson for an enriching 4-week Introduction to Zen Meditation Workshop, held weekly on Thursdays from 6:00–7:30pm. This workshop offers a unique blend of insightful talks, practical demonstrations, and guided practice in zazen (Zen meditation). You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and deepen your understanding of this ancient tradition.

Dates & Cost:
The workshop runs weekly for 4 sessions, and the total cost is just $20 for all 4 sessions.

Zen, a meditative practice rooted in Buddhism, is now embraced by people from all walks of life. It emphasises awakening from delusion and finding peace in everyday living. Originating in India and traveling through China, Korea, and Japan, Zen has evolved into a practice accessible to all, with vibrant communities across Australia.

Through this workshop, you will:
  • Learn the basics of zazen, including seated meditation postures, breathing techniques, and methods to focus your mind.
  • Gain insights into the rich history and unique aspects of Zen compared to other meditation practices.
  • Discover how to establish a Zen practice that aligns with your daily life.
Benefits:

Zen meditation offers a gateway to self-discovery and mindfulness, helping you cultivate ease, improve concentration, and embrace change with openness.

Schedule:

Each session includes short talks interspersed with periods of zazen practice, allowing participants to apply the teachings immediately. You will be encouraged to share your experiences and ask questions for deeper clarity.

What to Bring:

Bring your meditation cushion, stool, or mat, or borrow one at the venue. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and silence your mobile phone to maintain a serene atmosphere.
