Explore the power of citizen science workshop Gundagai
Event description
Join the Great Southern Bioblitz, an annual citizen science event where communities across the southern hemisphere come together to observe and record nature.
Event details:
Join Riverina Local Land Services for the Great Southern Bioblitz, an annual citizen science initiative undertaken across the southern hemisphere that invites the community to make observations of nature.
The information collected is incredibly useful for biodiversity managers and researchers to see trends in our natural environment and help them plan for better future outcomes.
Sightings of local plants and animals are recorded using the freely available iNaturalist app. It’s as simple as exploring, being curious, and taking photographs of nature in your local community - no prior experience is necessary.
In this hands-on workshop, aimed at the mature age group, you will learn how to record nature observations and contribute to an international biodiversity database. Each participant will also receive free plants and resources to improve nature in their own back yard.
Please register by 17 October 2025. This workshop is also being held in Tumut.
What to bring: A phone/smart device (where possible, download the iNaturalist app to your device before you come - we can help if needed).
Contact: Cherie White on 0427 407 126 or via email at: cherie.white@lls.nsw.gov.au
This event is a partnership with Snowy Valleys Council and Cootamundra Gundagai Regional Council and is part of the Refreshing Rivers project, supported by the NSW Government Environmental Trust.
