Description

There are hundreds of thousands of fungi all around us. Some help trees to thrive, others decompose organic materials and turn them into soil, some are destructive, and some are edible. Mushrooms appear as if by magic after a rain and often disappear as quickly. Come take a walk with Dave Babik, President of the Boston Mycological Club, the country's oldest surviving mycological society. We will go out and search for various types of fungi and bring them back to be examined and identified. This will be a special opportunity to learn the basics of identifying the mushrooms you find as you explore the outdoors.

Parking: 194 Rice Road.

What to Bring: Long pants, socks and sturdy shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, a hat, a full water bottle, and a charged cell phone.

Children 18 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

This walk is not suitable for dogs. Please leave your pets at home.

Photographs and videos may be taken during the walk. If you do not want to be photographed or recorded, please let the photographer or walk leader know.
