Exploring Te Pō - Night Tours at Orokonui

This event has passed Get Tickets

Event description

Join our expert guides as you explore the forest after dark. Witness the valley changing as sunlight fades, and discover which creatures call te pō home.

Participants will learn about the valley's nocturnal family, and the work Orokonui does to protect these often unseen sanctuary residents. Wandering through the forest, our guides will share stories of how interactions between people and nature have shaped our connections with both wildlife and the night itself.

Tours depart just as the light disappears, so you will be guided by torchlight through the sanctuary. Although the tracks are in good condition a reasonable level of fitness is required to comfortably partake. Due to the time spent out in the forest these tours are best suited for children 12 years and above.

Spaces are limited 10 people per tour to ensure groups can move quietly through the valley.

This event is part of the Wild Dunedin, New Zealand Festival of Nature. There are over 140 events happening across Ōtepoti/Dunedin as part of Wild Dunedin. To check out other events follow this link Wild Dunedin.nz
