Join us for a relaxed and informative online yarn exploring the importance of including authentic Torres Strait Islander texts and perspectives in our classrooms and early learning settings.

Debbie Hoger, founder of Riley Callie Resources, will be joined by Kirsty from Stories Across the Strait to yarn about why Torres Strait Islander representation in books matters and how educators can more confidently bring these stories into their teaching and learning.

Together, we’ll explore where educators can find authentic Torres Strait Islander texts, share examples of books and resources to look out for, and discuss practical ways these texts can be used to spark meaningful learning and conversations with children.

We’ll also hear more about the important work of Stories Across the Strait, their passion for increasing access to Torres Strait Islander stories, and why greater representation on our bookshelves matters.

Whether you’re looking to broaden your classroom library, strengthen your own understanding or discover new resources, this yarn is a great place to start.

Come along, bring your questions and join the yarn. Register your place today and discover more Torres Strait Islander stories to share in your learning space.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards purchasing educational resources for the team at Stories from Across the Strait, helping support the important work they do in sharing and celebrating Torres Strait Islander stories, culture and knowledge.
