Event description
This workshop will give you a foundation for portrait drawing with 2 different approaches. You will discover which best suits you and add this skill to your art practice. Suitable for complete beginners to experienced artists. Enjoy the medium of charcoal drawing and how effective a simple piece of burnt willow can produce wonderful portraits and expressive lines and forms. We will begin with some very basic anatomy, face proportions, plane change, and other technical terms you will come to understand and appreciate!
This workshop is both technically traditional with room for expressive ideas!
All materials will be provided.
Alana Wilkie is a Toowoomba born artist who has studied classical art techniques all over the world. She gained her degree in Fine Art at RMIT University in Melbourne and gained a scholarship for an artist residency in Rome, Italy. Alana has sold her work to collectors all over the world and is excited to share her knowledge to others.
These workshops have been made available to the community with the assistance of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) which is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Toowoomba Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
