Come and explore the vibrant colours and textures of soft pastels. Soft Pastels are a versatile and forgiving medium, easy to correct. They are very fun to use achieving fast results. Pastels can be used in multiple ways such as linear, broad side strokes, glazing and blending.

In this course we will cover materials and equipment, pastel techniques, colour and tone, perspective, composition, underpainting techniques, mixing it up with charcoal, preparing your own papers and a explore a variety of subjects.

By the end of this course students will: know several different pastel techniques to create expressive artworks of landscapes, flowers, animals and portraits etc.

THIS CLASS IS FOR: beginners as well as those with experience.

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Julianne Gosper has 25+ years experience both as a practising artist and Art teacher in both secondary schools and T.A.F.E.

She holds a B.A in Fine Arts, U.N.S.W and a Diploma in Arts Education from Deakin University.

She has won numerous awards including The Bendigo Art prize, the Louis Ellem Art Prize and in 2021 she was also selected as a finalist in the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award.

Julianne loves to explore and experiment in a variety of mediums to produce energetic, large scale artworks capturing the essence of her subject matter.

She loves to share her knowledge and skills to inspire others with a particular focus on experimentation and having fun.

Julianne has a particular interest in advocating the benefits of the Arts for Wellbeing. For the past several years she has worked with Special needs students developing an Arts Enrichment Program focussing on improving mental health building confidence and self esteem.
