Extracting the Future: A conversation on marine sand, ocean justice and resilience
Event description
Billions of tons of marine sand are dredged each year for land reclamation and other uses, yet often with severe consequences for people and nature. During this dialogue, UNEP/GRID-Geneva and grassroots voices from Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Maldives will shed light on the vital role marine sand plays in ocean biodiversity and climate resilience, and how coastal communities and future generations are bearing the brunt of our growing global appetite for it.
