Farm to Table Supper with Local Chef Sarah Soto @ Kelly Ridge Farm

Event description

Return to Kelly Ridge Farm this fall for a four-course Farm to Table Supper served family style, featuring a delicious menu created by Local Chef Sarah Soto. Each course is expertly paired with Tumbling Creek Ciders. Plus, we've added a few special touches this time to make this fundraiser one for the books!

The experience of open-air dining on a working farm in Appalachia always connects guests to the land and where food comes from in a very special way. This locally sourced menu features a table side starter - smooth and creamy Moonshot cheese dip with pretzel bites. Cider pairing: Moonshot. Course 1: Toasted Feta crostini with cranberry jam, crushed pistachio, and local honey. Cider pairing: Cyser. Course 2: Flavorful local mixed greens with roasted sweet potatoes and candied pecans drizzled with maple cider vinaigrette. Cider pairing: High Trestle. Course 3: Hearty and flavorful fall crowd pleaser that includes roasted kielbasa, butternut squash, brussel sprouts, apples, onions, and fingerling potatoes. Cider pairing: Hellbender. Course 4: Not to be missed! Enjoy a moist, layered cranberry and ginger cake with walnuts and cream cheese frosting. Cider pairing: Ginger or Whitetop. This supper menu is sure to please and inspire.

In addition to the cider pairing with each course, for this supper we will offer a special complimentary cider-infused signature event cocktail to all guests. Visit with Hunter Otey from The Martha Washington Inn and Spa while he mixes up your signature cocktail to toast the evening. Be sure to stop at our signature cocktail station to start your evening off, and remember you can still purchase cider before and after the meal.

We are also welcoming local potter Debbie Grim. For years, Debbie has been making pottery that fills our cupboards and shelves and serves our family-style meals. Debbie will join us as we pay homage to local farmers and local food. A special selection of Grim platters, serving bowls, dishes, and other pieces will be available in our silent auction. Winning one of Debbie’s pieces will be the most special way to serve your next meal at the family table.

Seating is first come-first serve. Layers and sturdy shoes are suggested. Guests who arrive by 5pm are invited to join a casual farm tour.

Tumbling Creek Cider Company
was formed by four friends in 2018, with a mission of creating high-quality apple-to-bottle cider focused on our local region and community here in Southwest Virginia. With a focus on hand-crafted cider, they built a production facility, and then started grafting cider apple trees and building the orchard. In 2020, they opened their tasting room in Abingdon, VA. Sarah Pasick Soto moved to Abingdon, Virginia in 2014. Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Danville, Kentucky, she promptly settled and found work at The Pepper Mill and now at The Martha Washington Inn’s Sister’s American Grille, in front and back of house positions. Sarah received a degree in the Culinary Arts in 1990 from Kendall College in Chicago. Her culinary passion is to create menus that she describes as ‘traditional with a twist’, using local ingredients to prepare dishes that are inspiring without being overbearing. Her food encourages you to sit down and enjoy a wonderful meal among friends and family while also being pleasantly surprised by unique flavor combinations. She has worked under notable chefs including the late Rene’ Bajeux, Ted Cizma, and Gilbert Langlios.

100% of all proceeds benefit Appalachian Sustainable Development. This supper is generously underwritten by United HealthCare. Photos and videos will be taken during this event. Menu subject to change due to local ingredient availability.
