Event description

Following our record breaking attendance to February's Meeting & Luncheon with Andrew Hayes of Norsta, we have back this up with yet another crowd pleasing subject and speaker.

Nick Dalton joins Cairns Local News as its new Editor and needs no introduction to locals when it comes to journalism with an extensive background in the field. Nick’s strength lies in the ability to gain an understanding of the full story and his efforts in supporting local matters and community groups. Nick is no stranger to the Forum having attended several lunches and kindly told our story to the Cairns community formerly as Business Editor at the Cairns Post.

Cairns Local News is a fiercely independent newspaper, publishing every Friday (except Good Friday).

Local people, local stories is what you will find in each edition of Cairns Local News, the stories and personalities of the region. From Mossman and Port Douglas to the north, and Innisfail to the south, Cairns Local News covers the stories that are of interest. Sport, community, education, local government, lifestyle, real estate, motoring and travel, Cairns Local News is your daily source of news and entertainment.

Although publishing once a week, with a circulation of 13,000, Cairns Local News also hosts a full up-to-the-moment news platform, keeping you informed on what is important in our region.

Managing director Carl Portella said the community was buzzing with excitement about the changes that were taking place, including the new look of Friday's edition, and what that could mean for the future of the publication.

“The new masthead is a modern, eye-catching design that represents the paper's commitment to providing its readers with the latest news and information,” he said.

“The design of the new look weekly publication is bold, fresh and contemporary, and it reflects the paper's determination to remain at the forefront of the industry.

“The new masthead will also be accompanied by a refresh of its website, making it easier for readers to access the latest news and features on the go.

“The new business premises are in the heart of the city in The Conservatory building, 12-14 Lake Street Cairns and are a testament to the paper's continued growth and success.”

Mr Portella said the appointment of new editor Nick Dalton was a significant part of the make-over.

“The new editor brings with him a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that is sure to bring a new energy to the paper.

“Nick has a passion for journalism and a commitment to delivering the highest quality content to readers. He is also eager to build on the paper's growing reputation and continue to provide the community with the latest news and information in an engaging and accessible way.

Better local information and news positively affects all Cairns businesses, gaining the essential understanding and insight into how you can best tap into Cairns opportunities that will provide you and your business the edge.

This will be a most informative lunch providing you with the real picture of local news and some great networking and we look forward to seeing you there.
