Event description

The Mothers Against Genocide (MAG) Art Project is teaming up with Megalo Print Studio to bring this workshop to mothers resisting genocide through many forms, including art! This is a unique opportunity to learn how to create fabric art squares using the screen printing technique. Your fabric art square will contribute towards a large quilted banner sending a strong message that mothers on this stolen land condemn genocide whether against the First Nations peoples here, in Palestine, or anywhere. The event will bring together like minded mothers and help to create a sense of community and solidarity during this challenging time. Participants are encouraged to send any images or ideas for inspiration that Megalo will do its best to incorporate into the designs for the art squares to director@megalo.org by Wednesday 25 June.

Please join us as we create an alternative path away from violence towards truth telling, empathy, healing, community and humanity. Follow MAG Art Project on Instagram for more details on the project: https://www.instagram.com/mag.art.project?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==

Please note that babes in arms/prams are welcome in the studio with their parents. Older children can do some drawing/colouring in the kitchen/member space with guardians, however it’s important to consider the ages of the children and whether they’ll be happy sitting in that space for the duration of the workshop, as it’s not safe for them to enter the studios.

Ticket cost covers all materials required by participants. MAG Art wishes to thank Megalo Print Studio for generously offering its services and venue for free. As such any donations participants are able to make towards Megalo Print Studio and its ongoing community outreach work are gratefully received.
