Participate in this community stitching event hosted by LACED textile artist Jane Théau.

Fabric for a Feast was initiated in 2015 as a never-ending project to make a never-finished tablecloth from an antique linen sheet found in a Pyreneen village in France. Since then community members of all ages and backgrounds have embroidered the tablecloth at exhibitions, community events and monthly stitching sessions at the Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre.

Embedded in the fabric are stitches made by children; a lotus flower started by someone who passed away before they could finish it, an eye created by a Syrian refugee and some expert herringbone stitch by a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild.

The goal is not to create a finished object but enjoy the process of making a piece of work as a communal group. Suitable for all ages and groups, with no previous experience needed and all materials provided.

This project is now sponsored by Textiles Sydney, a collective formed to foster all things textile.

There is a ramp at the side entrance of ADC (Palmer St) and wheelchair-accessible toilet on the lower gallery level.
