We are pleased to start off 2025 with this address from Nick Bourne.

Lord Bourne served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Wales Office and the Department for Communities and Local Government. He has been a member of the House of Lords since 2013.

Lord Bourne also worked as a Professor of Law at Swansea Law School, the Hong Kong University, the London School of Economics and at Cambridge University

Welcome to the Christchurch Branch of NZIIA.

The Christchurch branch includes a varied membership ranging from current and former diplomats to university staff and students. We welcome anyone with an interest in international affairs.

The Christchurch branch has close links with the University of Canterbury, including with the National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE), the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the South East Asia Research Institute (SEARI) and the History Department. Talks are usually held on the University’s Ilam campus and there is, on average, at least one seminar a month, during the academic year. Usually our events are held during the week, beginning at 5:30pm.

New members, both from within and beyond the University community, are very welcome. Members also have access to the NCRE’s Friday diplomatic series.
