Fairy Meadow NSW - Palliative and End of Life Care Workshop

PEPA aims to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care and end of life care.

Program Objective:

PEPA aims to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care for people with a life-limiting illness.

The workshops are interactive and provide time for discussion through case presentations and examples (some aspects of the program may change due to circumstances beyond our control).

Intended workshop audience:  Nurses currently working in the Community setting (within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District catchment area) interested in gaining knowledge of a palliative approach to care.

Topics include: introduction and philosophy of Palliative Care; standard Palliative Care emergencies and how to identify them; bowels (assessment and management); breathlessness (pharmaological and non-pharmalogical management); pain assessment; head to toe assessment; practical assessment (5 stations); overview of PEPA and placement opportunities.

• TICKET issued in 'good faith' that you meet the necessary criteria/target group for this session. Those not meeting the criteria/target group will be contacted by PEPA NSW to cancel their ticket.
