Event description

FNQ Nature Quest is bringing Rick Petersen to FNQ to host a family bushcraft and survival skills workshop. This is an amazing opportunity for children and caregivers to connect and learn in our beautiful Rainforest. This is a workshop for the whole family (aged 6 and up) and children are to be supported by an adult who is also required to purchase a ticket.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

We will take the time to get to know each other and connect, whilst Rick shares some of the Bushcraft and Survival Skills he learnt during his time with the Military and as survival instructor.

These skills include an introduction to:

  • Reading the natural environment and learning about the priorities of survival
  • Water collection, filtration and sterilisation
  • Improvised shelter building
  • Creating fire without modern tools such as matches and lighters
  • What we can and can’t trap, harvest and eat when out bush
  • Implementing rescue plans
  •  Ropes, knots and lashings

There will also be camp fire damper, billy tea provided

The training will be held at The Northern Outlook in Redlynch Valley where we can immerse ourselves in learning surrounded by dense rainforest and running creeks.
