    Family Movie Night!

🎬Screen Stories premiere and screening of West Australian film 'SWEET AS' at The Kodja Place🎬

Storytelling is an essential part of culture and our local heritage; passing on knowledge, history, and philosophies to new generations.

Thanks to generous funding from Lotterywest, The Kodja Place was honoured to host the inaugural ‘Screen Stories’ workshop facilitated by filmmaker Bec Bignell and journalist Olivia Thorn. Joined by other facilitators; including local photographer Astrid Volzke,Yola Bakker and Karina Hutchison of LANAH, the workshops spanned a three week course last September.

Under the guidance of a team of local film makers, producers, photographers, and specialist storytellers, the workshops shared expert media skills with Kojonup locals in a bid to open doors to creative and employment opportunities for their future.

With the initial mission to empower young people living in the Great Southern with media skills to capture local stories that share intergenerational knowledge, as well as the many different perspectives of all people in our community; the fruits of the participant's hard work can now be shared with the local community in a celebratory outdoor cinema experience.

We are delighted to invite you to come and see what was produced in the beautiful setting of the Jack Cox Courtyard and The Australian Rose Maze on Friday 15th March 6.30 pm - 9 pm.
The evening also includes a screening of 'Sweet As', a WA film by Jub Clerc filmed in the Pilbara.
