Description

Join us as we say farewell to Sharing the National Collection.

Bid Adieu to Sharing the National Collection with an afternoon of evocative performance.

Join Ipswich-based actors David Paterson and Davis Dingle as they perform excerpts from Red, the acclaimed two-person drama, exploring the artistic psyche and motivations of Mark Rothko at the height of his career.

A Q&A will follow with the actor David Paterson and director Timothy Wynn, Artistic Director of THAT Production Company. Hear as they explore Rothko's legacy, his enduring influence, and the power of art and performance to express unseen and untold emotions.

Red was written by celebrated writer John Logan. This reading is supported by the Ipswich Civic Centre Hatchery 4305 Program.

Then, immerse your senses in the ambient soundscape of Leighton Craig. Positioned between the Rothko and Martin paintings, Craig's performance, Farewelling the National Collection, unfolds as a quiet, repetitive, and gently evolving long-form keyboard devotional.

Attendees are invited to relax and experience the performance from the adjoining gallery.

Sign in at the Ipswich Art Gallery front desk prior to making your way to the Exhibition Gallery.
