Farm Walk & Talk: Combining cattle and natural area regeneration on small holdings
Event description
Join the Sustainable Agriculture team for a walk and talk around Nangana farm at Eungella on Thursday 7 November. Over the past 10 years, property owners Kim and Michael have been very busy improving the productivity and biodiversity of their farm.Â
They've been doing this by trialing multi-species pastures, incorporating organic amendments, creating freshwater wetlands, regenerating riparian vegetation and revegetating steep gullies in their grazing system.
Come along to meet fellow landholders, learn about grants opportunities and hear Kim and Michael's story.Â
On the day you can expect to:Â
- See how Kim (a wetland ecologist) created a freshwater wetland from a puggy mud puddle.
- Observe the benefits of a 6-year-old revegetated steep gully.
- Reflect on a multi-species pasture cropping trial in 2021 using the Soilkee renovator.
- Discuss control methods of giant Parramatta grass, giant devil's fig, camphor laurel and cats claw creeper.
- Walk along the Oxley River and learn how to convert a weed infested camphor laurel forest to beautiful riparian rainforest.Â
No dogs allowed at this event sorry.Â
