Tweed Shire Council's popular Farm Walk & Talk series continues with a visit to Numina Farm at Bray’s Creek. Pamela and Sean are first generation farmers with a passion for their livestock, bees and the environment. They have been working with Tweed Shire Council’s Sustainability and Environment team and Tweed Landcare for a number of years to enhance the soils, waterways and biodiversity on their farm.

The area is characterised by low undulating and rolling hills within the Tweed Volcano Caldera. With a long history of grazing, the area remains one of the most important agricultural areas in the Tweed due to favourable soil and climatic conditions and large property sizes relative to other rural areas in the Tweed. Come along for an informative morning and:

hear about the joys and tribulations of first-generation farming.
see first-hand the outcomes of Council’s Sustainable Agriculture Small Grant and River Health Grant funded projects.
see how waterways and farm dams are being enhanced with fencing and revegetation, providing cleaner water for livestock, reducing erosion and providing habitat for native fauna.
learn about pasture trials and other farming practices aimed at improving pasture production and health.

The day provides an opportunity to network with other farmers and staff from Council’s Sustainable Agriculture Program and Tweed Landcare and hear from the landholders of this amazing property. Light refreshments and amenities provided.

Please no dogs or other pets – this is a working farm.

Please follow simple biosecurity measures such as clean clothing and footwear and make sure your vehicle is free of foreign materials and seed before entering the property.

Tweed Shire Council's Farm Walk & Talks typically occur on the first Thursday of every month (except for January and December). For a few hours each month we showcase a local farm and the sustainability initiatives and environmental challenges that the landholders are tackling.

So join us for a chance to network with other farmers and find out about some of the great projects and innovations that local farmers are embarking on.
