Are you dreaming of a tree change to a farm? Have you recently bought a property in the Bendigo region? Are you planning to buy and manage livestock on your property in the future?

Join us for a practical and hands-on day on the fundamentals of farming! This workshop is designed to ensure you are providing a safe and healthy environment for not only yourself and the animals you care for, but anyone who visits your farm.

Industry experts, John Darcy, MOFS Farm Safety Advisor, and Christine Gorman, Calmer Farmer consulting will be covering the following topics:

  • Farm safety for small landholders
  • Correct design of yards, loading ramps and crushes
  • Farm safety briefings and the importance of record keeping
  • Farm Planning 101
  • Assessing soil, climate, water and infrastructure to determine your capability
  • Land, infrastructure, fencing, feed and welfare requirements of different livestock
  • Where, when, and why of farm infrastructure choices and overcoming challenges

Admission is FREE. Food will be provided so registration is essential. 


Please note that the event will be held in - part outside, and so appropriate protective clothing is advised, such as a hat, covered shoes and sun protective clothing.

The workshop is a collaboration between the City of Greater Bendigo, and the Victorian Farmers Federation programs, Stock Sense and Making our Farms Safer.
