ABOUT THE VENUE

The Royal Oak, one of Balmain's oldest and most loved pubs has been hosting Roaring Stories author events since the inception of our events program.

Attendees are asked to arrive at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. The event bar on L1 is serving drinks from 6.30pm and also following the author talk. Seating is unallocated – another reason to arrive early to secure an optimal spot. Why not make a full evening of it, too, by ordering a meal at the Royal Oak before or after the event? To make a dinner reservation before or after the event, simply click on the restaurant reservation link here.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Bound in cherry-red pleather and edged in gold, this is a hilarious celebrity fashion bible from the internet's favourite FARSHUN commentator.

If you've ever gawked or marvelled at Hollywood celebrities' red-carpet outfits, you're going to love Fashion Critical's musings on the most memorable red-carpet looks, trends and fails of our time.

From the Golden Globes to the Met Gala and everything in between, viral social media commentator, FC, will give you VIP access to the multi-million-dollar machine that is celebrity red-carpet fashion. All her critiques promise her effective combination of humour and bang-on evaluations of celebrity style, while her loveable Australian colloquialisms add that touch of charm. (Whaddya call this, luv?)

You'll quickly become familiar with FC's vocab, from 'crotch whiskers' (creasing in the crotch area) to 'BOG' (an Aussie football acronym for the best on ground). With hundreds of photos throughout, you'll also be reminded of fashion trends from the naked dress to breast plates to accessories gone wild (think Jared Leto carrying a, erm, wax recreation of his own head). There are surprises, shocks and sartorial delights galore, all wrapped up in FC's on-point commentary.

It's time to tuck yourself up on the couch with a cocktail and enjoy this stunning book that is serving both fun and frivolity.

ABOUT FASHION CRITICAL

Fashion Critical is a social media account run by an anonymous Australian who critiques red-carpet outfits for 'shits 'n giggles'. Her cover is that she's an elderly street sweeper gentleman from Gundagai, and while she rarely knows the people on the red carpet (unless they're proper A-listers or from the couple of shows she's chosen to watch that year), she keeps her focus squarely on the outfits. Her social media pages have now amassed hundreds of thousands of followers, with devoted fans desperately waiting for her album after each red-carpet event.
