FLOCK Festival | FAST FASHION UNDER FIRE: The Internationals Vintage Trunk Show + Sustainability Panel

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Welcome to an evening of curated and thought provoking fashion. Tonight we take a step away from the world of fast fashion and step into a world of ethical choices, new waves of fashion design that considers both people and the environment and a glimpse into the circular economy of vintage fashion.

Join us at 6pm for a glass of vino and an exclusive vintage trunk show, unveiling the private vintage collection from the late Shirley Strauss, a renowned Melbourne socialite and fashion icon, presented by Philip Boon & Sonia Audino of The Internationals Vintage. Philip & Sonia will walk us through some key pieces from the collection including garments from Missoni, Gianni Versace, Callaghan, Pucci & Krizia as well as discussing key principles of transeasonal vintage styling.

At 7pm The Internationals will be joined by international denim designer, Claire Ford, and social enterprise, Fibre Economy, for a round table discussion around sustainability across the fashion sector, providing insights on current and best practice within the industry and also inspire us on how we can make a difference by what we buy and wear.

This is a free event. Please register online and arrive early to secure your seat.

Light refreshments will also be available to purchase on the evening and the full Internationals Collection will be available to try on and purchase on the night.

The Internationals Vintage

Founded by Philip Boon and Sonia Audino, 'The Internationals' is a vintage emporium of designer garments, archive apparel and rare and collectible pieces from private collections sourced internationally and across Australia. With the belief that 'vintage is the future' the pair embark on a mission to 'add nothing new into the environment' and showcase their unique collection of vintage pieces garnered from some of the world's most renowned fashion houses.

Claire Ford

Claire Ford is an international design and trend consultant specialising in denim and sustainability within the fashion sector. Hailing from London but now a proud West Aussie, Claire's portfolio includes Australian brands such as Outland Denim, who are considered one of the world's most ethical and sustainable denim brands, Ena Pelly & Forever New, along with international brands such as Reiss and All Saints. Claire works with production houses in Turkey, Cambodia and Europe and brings a wealth of knowledge on current best practice in sustainability and the future of ethical fashion production.

Fibre Economy

Fibre Economy is a social enterprise working towards a world without textile waste. Recognising the great need for a shift towards circular systems across all industries, they aim to capture the untapped value in discarded resources. By working with organisations that employ those at-risk, Fibre Economy gives unwanted workwear a second life.
