Fault Line
Event description
Fault Line is a devised dance theatre piece developed by Isabella Arras and an ensemble of theatre makers (Cat Woods, Illia George, and Lucas Sun) to tackle misconceptions around domestic violence/abuse. The company aims to educate audiences on warning signs, types of abuse, and misconceptions and stigmas around survivors by highlighting the impact of generational trauma, narcissism, and cycles of abuse with this piece. But perhaps more importantly, they are aiming to offer empathy, understanding, and hope to all who come in contact with the piece, whether they have a personal connection to the subject or are learning about it for the first time. Isabella was inspired to create this piece because she's had several loved ones experience domestic violence/abuse and she believes that talking about it, creating educational tools (like this piece), and easy access to resources can make a real change in its prevalence.
Content Warnings*: abstracted portrayals of physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and financial abuse; first hand verbal accounts of physical, psychological, verbal, emotional, sexual, spiritual, and financial abuse; portrayals of alcoholism; sexually suggestive content; allusions to suicide; allusions to and mentions of death
What you don’t have to worry about*: realistic portrayals of violence; yelling; screaming; portrayals of blood or bruising; heavy objects or furniture being intentionally thrown or broken on stage
