Faux Pas
Event description
‘Faux Pas’ is the first solo production by Lorcan Power, who presents a fusion of dance and art through their non-binary lens.
Facing the intimacy of their true lived experiences, this work confronts failure, and the pressures we place on ourselves to conform. Importantly, the scale of this multi-art production calls back at these constraints. It opens an opportunity for breaking away from expectation, creating new directions for movement and the arts.
“I see dance as occupying a reified position in society and I want to break the barriers and bridge a gap between dance and other art communities.” - Lorcan Power
Importantly this work values the stories of marginalised humxns, and opens up a stage for so many communities to come together and be celebrated.
Opening initially with an art installation, the work follows into a sixty minute performance piece with seven dancers, to an original music score. ‘Faux Pas’ will feature collaborations with exciting queer artists of multiple disciplines between Naarm and Eora.
