Fayetteville Ramble

Ramble around Fayetteville with Preservation North Carolina this fall! Explore the historic homes, buildings, and landmarks that tell the story of one of North Carolina’s oldest and most architecturally significant communities.

Initially settled by Scots Highlanders in the eighteenth century, Fayetteville grew into an important center of commerce, transportation, and culture for the North Carolina backcountry. Over the centuries, the city has been shaped by its connections to the Cape Fear River, the military, and generations of residents who left their mark on its neighborhoods and built environment.

Our Fayetteville Ramble will include a diverse collection of historic residential, institutional, religious, and cultural sites spanning the eighteenth through the twentieth centuries. Spend the day exploring at your own pace, with the opportunity to step inside places that are not often open to the public and learn more about the people and stories behind them.
