    FDC Site Tour: CAE Qantas Sydney Flight Training Centre


    If you are currently studying and or looking to start a career in construction, this event will be perfect for you! Join FDC's Women in Construction Movement for their next site tour to hear about entryways and pathways in construction while extending your network and meeting the project team to learn about the intricate details of design and construction of the flight training centre. 

    FDC partnered with CAE and LOGOS for the construction of the new purpose-built Sydney Flight Training Facility in St Peters near Sydney Airport while discussing the women in construction movement, pathways into construction and providing networking opportunities.

    The building has been designed with over three levels to provide training for up to 4,500 new and current Qantas and Jetstar pilots and cabin crews. It will house the latest technology in aviation including full flight simulators, emergency training equipment including slides, rafts and door trainers, several classrooms and office space to meet Qantas requirements. The project entails the demolition of existing structures, remediation of contaminated fill soils and the construction of a 3-storey concrete and steel structure with associated services external pavement and landscaping works. The project will also require the construction of two new substations, a new sewer connection and the diversion of an existing stormwater line. The site is situated on Alexandria Canal and will involve new landscaping to revitalise this State Heritage construction. The project is in its final stages and due for completion mid 2024.
