Event description
FEAST MATARIKI MAHIKA KAI WORKSHOP KI ŌTEPOTI ~ Once Were Gardeners
Gathering to explore Mahika Kai this Matariki
Fi Clements (Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe, Kai Tahu) is an Eat New Zealand Kaitaki (young food leader). She’s also known as Señorita AweSUMO for her Papatūānuku based practice including her zero-waste business Res. Awesome. She inspires and supports people to reduce their waste in their businesses, events and whānau.
She is presenting ‘Once Were Gardeners’, a reconnection with our Mahika kai in urban local landscapes. How do we reimagine these spaces as our gathering places for kai? How do we enhance and live with the landscapes that support us, enhancing the mauri of the Whenua and the Takata by gathering, tending to her and ourselves, and connecting with Papatūānuku.
Once Were Gardeners brings us together to celebrate Matariki and mahika kai. This session will be filled with delicious, handcrafted cacao, time in the Māra kai, Hua Parakore, mahika kai, Chocolate tasting and storytelling.
A chance to learn and develop your own practices over Matariki, particularly from an urban perspective.
Session Time: 11am - 3pm
