(Featherston) O Nata Lux
Event description
This ticket is for our Featherston concert, please click here for the Wellington concert.
A celebration of light across space and centuries. We begin close to home, with dappled suns on soft ferns in Leonie Holmes’ through coiled stillness, and ‘golden sea-snakes’ of Wellington city meeting ‘sleepy kisses of the moon’ in Takerei Komene’s Te Māhina and He Kihi o te Rā (The Moon and Kiss of the Sun).
Diverse settings of familiar texts explore light as a timeless muse, including settings of O Nata Lux, Lux Aeterna, and Lux Fulgebit Hodie.
The music reaches the majestic in William Walton’s Cantico del Sole - an untamed invocation to Brother Sun and Sister Death, celebrating the splendours of life-giving light. We round the programme out with works by Eric Whitacre, Thomas Tallis, David Hamilton, and Ross Harris.
There will be a pre-concert talk in the hall at 3:30pm.
