Forest Bathing - Guided Nature Connection in Pukeiti

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Would you like to feel more grounded and present and create some space to reconnect with yourself and the natural world around you?

Forest Bathing, also known as Shinrin-Yoku, Shinrin in Japanese means “forest,” and Yoku means “bath”. Shinrin-yoku means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses.

Benefits from this practice have been scientifically studied and quantified. Some of these include: increased immunity, improved sleep, reduced stress, and increased concentration, mental focus and creativity.

This is a small group experience with a maximum of 8 participants and is suitable for people 16 years and over. You will receive a waiver that must be signed to participate in the walk.

What to expect

To start, your certified guide, Clara Arribas, will lead you through a sensory meditation to help you to switch off and slow down.

In partnership with the land, Clara will offer a series of nature connection ‘invitations’, each carefully crafted to help you explore and engage in any way that feels right to you. In between invitations, the group comes together and is offered the opportunity to share what they are noticing.

Forest Bathing is not a hike or a naturalistic walk but about immersing oneself in the natural environment. The walk distance will be no more than 2 km and is not physically challenging. This activity is suitable for adults with any fitness level.

What to bring
  • Participants should dress for the weather. Forest bathing is a slow practice, so wearing or bringing extra layers is encouraged
  • A bottle of water, sunscreen and a hat
  • A small cushion to sit on if you do not want to sit directly on the ground
  • A bag or backpack to store your keys and personal items
  • An open heart
