Design Yak: a monthly breakfast for creatives

We’re a tribe of creatives who meet regularly to talk about the business of design.

We get together monthly to share knowledge, skills and advice. 

We have interesting conversations around the day-to-day challenges of founding, building and managing a creative business. Sometimes there’s a guest speaker, sometimes there’s a topic, sometimes it’s just about our month.

I’m Carol, the organiser. I started this event in Feb 2017 during the brief stint I had between running a mid-sized studio and working solo. I missed walking the talk with other creatives and emailed a few about meeting for breakfast. I’m no longer a practising designer – I’m co-founder of the Design Business Council – and our tribe has grown to include writers, strategists, photographers, content creators and podcast producers.

Are we a self-help group? Maybe.
Are we open and sharing? Absolutely.
No agendas, no egos.

Interested in joining us? Jump in and grab a ticket but don’t procrastinate … because of our venue, numbers are limited to 20 and that’s OK because 20 is nice number of people around the table. Ticket sales close 9am the Monday before breakfast.
