Event description

Join us for our February Monthly Mingle on Sunday 16 February. It is an informal get-together that aims to bring people closer to their local food system and community. Monthly Mingles are an opportunity to share food, stories, and views on sustainability and our food system.

This month we are pleased to welcome Renae Scott of Nourish and Breathe as our guest speaker. Renae will take us on a walk through her herbal garden that focuses on western herbal medicinal plants. The allotment at CCF has been developed and grown from a desire to connect with the medicinal plants that are used as a naturopath and herbalist.  A deeper level of respect and understanding develops from growing the plants so that a level of reciprocity is appreciated and that the herbal medicines are not a commodity but an offering.

What can you grow and use in your own Herbal garden? Meet some of our well loved plants (even weeds), learn some of their properties, how to make herbal medicines and their use in your home apothecary.

Renae is a university qualified naturopath and herbalist specialising in women’s health. Renae founded Nourish and Breathe, a Naturopathic Health Clinic and Apothecary in Canberra at the Dairy Road precinct. Renae runs a busy clinic, is a mother of 4, and has a deep love of nature and the ocean.

As usual, before Renae's talk, we’ll be firing up the pizza oven and will provide pizza bases, sauce, and cheese; please bring other pizza toppings for our volunteers to prepare various options to share.
