Get creative and learn the beautiful forms of Japanese writing characters this year.

For those who survive the digital age the time for handwriting is valuable. Majority of Japanese characters including hiragana, katakana and kanji have one certain stroke order and are strictly taught for better forms. Why don't we learn about the beauty and Japanese characters more deeply, with a pencil?

Maiko, the master of Japanese calligraphy / writing will guide you at the lesson.

-Ages 7- 16 (Grade 1 - 10) only

-Bookings required.

-Previous / current Japanese language speaking environment is preferred. (Studying Japanese at school, family background and having a residence history etc.) as we write Japanese sentences and use Japanese for context.

-No materials needed.

-The venue is located behind Legacy House in 159 Macquarie Street. Please walk down the lane way beside Legacy House to the ground floor of the rear building.

鉛筆で日本の文字を書くことで、毛筆では得るのが難しい字の筆圧、細かい動きやサイズへの意識も高めましょう。

2017年から子ども書道教室を運営しつつ、大人向けワークショップや出張レッスンなどもしているハウエル麻衣子が、今年からタスマニア州のホバートで小中学生対象の書き方クラス（鉛筆）をひらきます。

お手本は、学年ごとに文科省で定められた漢字の規定に沿って作成します。

ご参加に際して、日本の文字は書けなくても、日本語の単語や文脈への理解のあるお子さまたちをご参加の対象とさせていただきます。
