Feel Safe: Protective Behaviours for Young Adults
Event description
This workshop is an expansion of our introductory training, Boundary Setting and Protective Behaviours. Whereas many Protective Behaviours trainings focus on the education and engagement of children, this workshop targets strategies and skills of teaching Protective Behaviours to young adults.
Our workshops are for parents, carers, students, teachers and health professionals. This workshop is not for clients. There is a limit of 3 participants from the same organisation.
Our full day workshop will address complex components of Protective Behaviours including problem solving and emergencies, wanted and unwanted touch, internet safety and pornography.
A central feature of this training will be an introduction to SECCA's 'Feel Safe' resource. The 'Feel Safe' resource addresses all of the topics listed above through various modes including eLearning, videos and hardcopy materials. It was co-designed with young adults with disability and contains the key elements that they asked to be included.
This is a full day workshop with coffee/tea and a light morning tea. Please bring your own lunch and water bottle. We have a fridge and microwave that you're welcome to use.
Please note: if you are a HCC holder 50% of the ticket price ($60) will be refunded on proof of HCC. Please upload a photo of your Health Care Card so we can process your refund.
Our workshops are in person only. Due to a limited capacity within our education team, we are not able to offer online workshops at this time.
Alternatively, we offer in-person or online professional development workshops for your team or organisation. This could be one of our signature Workshops, or a custom workshop tailored to your organisation's specific needs. If this interests you, please fill out the form linked here or visit the Workshop section of our website.
We will, however, offer webinars and online module trainings in the upcoming months so we kindly ask you to keep an eye out for our newsletter.
