In this presentation, Distinguished Professor Karu Esselle will explore the pivotal role of these systems, with a special focus on the opportunities presented by space technologies, such as satellite communications. He will also highlight some cutting-edge antenna solutions developed by his team and others, illustrating how these innovations are shaping the future of connectivity and technological advancements in various sectors.

Biography
Distinguished Professor Karu Esselle, FRSN, FIEEE, FIEAust, is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) specializing in Electromagnetic and Antenna Engineering. He was named Australia's 2022 Professional Engineer of the Year and led the MetaSteerers team to win the 2023 Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Safeguarding Australia. A Fellow of the Royal Society of NSW, IEEE, and Engineers Australia, Karu has received numerous prestigious awards, authored over 750 publications with 16,000 citations, and garnered over $33 million in research funding. He has also provided expert assistance to various global companies and serves on several IEEE committees and editorial boards.
