Event description

In the face of ecological collapse, climate extremes, and growing social disconnection, how can we reimagine investment to work in partnership with the natural world?

We'll hear from a Rachel Lowry, CEO of Bush Heritage, on why nature investing is crucial at this time. 


Connect with fellow members of Small Giants Academy and the broader impact investing community. Forge new connections, exchange ideas, and be a part of the movement towards a more sustainable future.


Expect delicious local organic catering from our in-house Chef, Chase White and complimentary drinks.

Speakers:

Rachel Lowry is the CEO at Bush Heritage and previously the Chief Conservation Officer at WWF for Nature Australia, Rachel Lowry leads with hope and empathy and champions change that benefits people, nature and climate. With an unwavering love for Australia’s natural landscapes, wildlife and biodiversity she has become a highly respected leader in the conservation sector. Prior to her work with WWF-Australia, Rachel spent nine years as Director of Wildlife Conservation and Science for Zoos Victoria. She’s been an advisor to Australia’s Threatened Species Commissioner and is a former Chair of Centre for Sustainability Leadership. Rachel sits on various advisory Boards, is a Councillor at the Biodiversity Council and has developed award-winning conservation programs domestically and abroad. As recognition of her contribution to conservation, Rachel was awarded a position on the Top 50 Women in the Victorian Public Service by the Institute of Public Administration Australia in 2018.  

 

Danny Almagor is the co-founder (with his wife Berry) and the Executive Chair of Small Giants. Danny was the inaugural Social Entrepreneur in Residence at RMIT, the founder and former CEO of Engineers Without Borders Australia and is the co-founder and Chair of the Impact Investment Group. He has founded over a dozen for profit and non profit organisations including The Sociable Weaver, The Impact Club, and Beyond Creative. He has served on numerous boards, including Tom Organic, The School of Life, The Cape ecovillage, Pacific Biotechnologies, Smiling Mind, The Gross National Happiness Centre in Bhutan.
