Felt Christmas Stocking Workshop

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Get started on your handmade Christmas presents by learning to create a cute felt Christmas stocking!

In this class you will learn the basics of wet felt making by making miniature felt stocking from natural NZ wool. Wool is a sustainable and local resource, which is great fun to craft with. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and create.

You will learn:
How to make a pattern using a resist
How to ‘wet felt’ using soap and water
How to make 3D felt objects

You will leave with a mini felt stocking (approx. 20 cm high) and the skills to continue felting at home... be warned, it's addictive!

Materials list: Please bring 1 towel. All other materials will be provided.

Children 12+ are welcome to attend with an adult.

Venue: Arts Centre Maker Workshop, corner of Hereford St and Rolleston Ave.

Tutor: Simone Bensdorp from Wild Felt.

Cost: This class is offered for koha (donation) to make it accessible for all. As a general guideline I would usually charge $30 for a 2 hour class, so please pay what feels possible for you. Your generosity will allow me to keep offering classes in this way.

This workshop requires minimum numbers to go ahead. If the class is cancelled, you will be notified 2 days before and full ticket price will be refunded.
