Dear sisters,

I'm excited to bring us together in song and harmony. There is something magical when women raise their voices together in connection with the Earth!

For this choir, my vision is that we'll sing as a prayer and each time we meet, we spiral deeper into the voice, into sisterhood, into connection with the land and our ancestors. We'll learn songs that consist of several voices, play with harmonies and also with an intuitive, improvised flow. We'll strengthen our connection with each other and create an enjoyable carpet of sound that all our beings can find rest and nourishment in. For me, the voice truly is medicine, and it is my wish for each of us to find their own power through voice.

You don't need any experience with singing and are welcome no matter what your story with your voice is, whether you're a professional singer or think you cannot sing, bring your voice exactly as she is!

The sessions will comprise
- Voice Embodiment exercises to free and strengthen the voice
- learning songs with several voices/harmonies and playing with the ones we learnt before
- Yodeling as an archaic vocal expression and harmonic sound bath
- collaborative vocal improvisation to create music on the spot
- singing the land, the unseen, the ancestors and the healing
- sacred & wild sound practices, we'll do little sound healings on each other
- space to connect with the ancestors through voice and music
- space for sisterhood sharings
- for the last session a closing ritual & celebration at my home, around the bonfire and with potluck dinner

The songs we'll sing are carefully chosen and in line with the decolonisation movement. Some of them I wrote myself, others stem from other singer-songwriters and there will be traditional songs/yodels as well. They will be in English language, in creature language, yodeling syllables and potentially songs from your ancestries.

we meet every Wednesday afternoon 3.45-5.15pm.
6-week term: 4.10.–8.11.23

Prerequesites

none - every female identifying person is welcome, whether you think you cannot sing or you're a professional singer or something in between. singing is our nature!
