Event description

MĀHŪ MIX AND HONOLULU HORROR NIGHTS PRESENT: FEMME FATALE

An immersive experience celebrating the Femme Fatale, a seductress who weaves an evocative spell of trickery and control. This night is a tribute to all those who captivate, seduce, redefine, and reclaim what it means to be seen.

Presented by Māhū Mix (MM) and Honolulu Horror Nights (HNN), Femme Fatale is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between two queer-led organizations on Oʻahu. HNN, a non-profit dedicated to showcasing local art and independent horror films. MM is a a collective tapestry of dance parties, social gatherings, activism, and ceremony that focuses by elevating Māhū and other queer Pasifika folks. April marks the halfway point to both Halloween and Honolulu Pride, two celebrations that have long been sacred to queer communities. Just like Pride Month, Halloween has been a space for unapologetic self-expression, making this collaboration powerfully spooky and deliciously radiant.

Whether you come dressed as a siren of the deep, a cinematic femme fatale, or your fiercest self, this event invites you to revel in your power, dance without inhibition, and lose yourself in a world where beauty and danger intertwine.

*Trigger Warning statement.
At HNN and MM, we recognize the value of trigger warnings and understand that certain themes or visuals may be distressing for some viewers. However, at this time, we will not announce any specific trigger warnings, as they would be extensive, can reveal key plot points and diminish the viewing experience. If you have specific concerns about possible triggers in horror films, please reach out to HHN or MM and we can discuss the film and event with you. We also encourage you to look into the movie beforehand (see link above). Mahalo for your understanding!

*Everyone is welcome to this event, as we create a māhū utopia together. To make this a reality, we ask that you reflect on your relationship to queerness and queerphobia, unpack your biases and "isms", and connect with the root of your pleasure. Our space thrives when we uplift and center māhū and those who rarely see themselves reflected on or off stage. Consider how many spaces already cater to you in your daily life, and allow that to help you enter this space with grace and aloha.

Respect is non-negotiable—any form of unpleasant gazing, unwanted touching, homo or transphobia, judgment, or other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Step out of line, and you’ll be swiftly shown the door. Now that we’ve got that covered 💅🏽—ready to party? Let’s DANCE!

**Special ticket prices are for trans people, Māhū and queer Pasifika folks, including, but not limited to, Vaka Sa Lewa Lewa, Palopa, Fa’afafine, Akava’ine, Fakaleiti, Fakafifine, Rae Rae, and, Fafafine (MVPFAFF+) people, along with trans+ folks. Please only purchase these tickets if you identify as a queer Pasifika person and/or a trans person.
